ABOUT US
Founded by two former Miami-Dade County Public Schools teachers, (Juliet King and Lucy Canzoneri-Golden ) Coral Reef Montessori Academy strives for excellence in all areas of pedagogy and subject area instruction. Coral Reef Montessori Academy is located in Southwest Miami-Dade County.
Montessori American Montessori Society (1996) reported, "Montessori children are unusually adaptable. They have learned to work independently and in groups. Since they've been encouraged to make decisions from an early age, these children are problem-solvers who can make choices and manage their time well. They have also been encouraged to exchange ideas and to discuss their work freely with others and good communication skills ease the way in new settings. Research has shown that the best predictor of future success is a sense of self-esteem. Montessori programs, based on self-directed, non-competitive activities, help children develop good self-images and the confidence to face challenges and change with optimism." The children at Coral Reef Montessori Academy epitomize these traits. It is evident through their test scores and their love for school and learning.

The school is housed in a brand new building with excellent classroom facilities. There are 5 Pre-kindergarten/Kindergarten classes, 5 first-to third grade combination classes, 3 fourth to sixth grade class combinations, and a Montessori middle school. Our middle school teachers have received authentic Montessori Academy training by the renowned Dr. Betsy Coe. The school has been an affiliate of the American Montessori Society (A.M.S.) for the past five years. We have initiated the process of accreditation through the A.M.S. in conjunction with the Southern Association Accreditation of Schools (SAACS). We will be opening the 2009-2010 school year with over 400 students.

We pride ourselves in providing a true Montessori environment for our students. One of the reasons why we are successful is that our parents must volunteer 30 hours per student for each school year. We have been able to tap on the knowledge, expertise, hard work, and love that make our school an excellent learning environment. The other is obviously the incredible dream that our founders continue to provide for our children.
